Racking systems require Load Charts to define how much they are capable of carrying. Systems that do not display load charts are susceptible to overloading.

All MHE Operators should have a basic understanding of how toread a SWL sign and how to adhere to the prescribed SWL ratings.

Business owners cannot make changes to the beam levels without authorisation from the designer or supplier. If changes are made, then the Load Charts should be altered or replaced to reflect the new beam levels.

Supplier Requirements
The business that provides the Racking is also required to provide the following information to their client.

  • Load application, racking configuration drawings, and specifications shall be furnished with each racking installation. (A notice shall be included on the drawings that deviations from the drawings may impair the safety of the racking installation).
  • If the racking is required to be used in more than one configuration, structural drawings shall include each required configuration.

Summary
The company that supplies the racking is also required to provide Load Charts for the racking, unfortunately, this does not always happen.

iRiA carries out racking testing on many brands and is able to legally provide accurate Load Charts for clients who have not been provided these by their supplier.
