The repair of damaged components is not generally recommended due to problems of quality control and the possibility of hidden damage to the material. Any component no longer fit for use, should be replaced on a like for like bases with the manufacturers approved component.
Repairs should only be carried out if authorised by the manufacturer and should be carried out in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Never apply heat in an attempt to straighten bent components or straighten damaged columns using a jig or hydraulic ram or similar methods. The properties of the component have been altered from the known state on which the original approval was carried out.
