Job Overview

Nolwazi Abangane Projects specialises in racking, shelving, and mezzanine floors, catering to the manufacturing, logistics, mining, and FMCG sectors. We are looking for a motivated and skilled Junior Safety Officer to join our team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in safety.
  • Fluent in English (Afrikaans as additional langue)
  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent knowledge of OHS Act, MHS Act
  • Excellent knowledge of Sasol policies and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of mining policies and procedures
  • Presentable, well spoke, strong personality, ability to manage timekeeping, goal orientated
  • Strong writing skills are imperative
  • Fully computer literate on MS Office, advanced Word, advanced Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork skills and ability to use their own initiative required
  • Solid phone and interpersonal skills
  • Possess a technical mindset
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Clear criminal record

Qualifications

  • Grade 12
  • National diploma in Safety Management/Risk Management or relevant equivalent qualification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • You will be required to pass a medical fitness certificate to be considered for this position
  • SAMTRAC and COMSOC 2 certificates will be advantageous
  • Certificate of training in ISO45001 system auditing and or integrated internal auditing will be advantageous

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports on findings from inspections
  • Compile safety files complete with risk assessments, JSA, PTRA’s etc.
  • Facilitate health and safety meetings
  • Identification of the hazards and risks relevant to projects through coordinated site inspections
  • Compiling project specific emergency response and preparedness plans
  • Conduct site safety inductions
  • Do toolbox talks
  • Oversee the reporting and investigation of incidents
  • Carry out racking safety and site inspections in accordance with applicable European standards on all system types, write accurate reports detailing the results of said inspections, enabling the client to make an informed decision on actions to be taken.
  • Complete inspection paperwork in accordance with The Company standard terminology
  • Report any work carried out by The Company that has not been completed to a high standard to the relevant department in order to maintain the quality of work being done.
